A pharmaceutical company has announced it will pay $1.7 billion to resolve allegations that it falsified and shipped counterfeit Viagra pills to China.
The company is seeking the refund of the amount it paid to resolve claims of fake versions of the drug, Pfizer said in a statement on Monday. The settlement will reimburse the company $1.7 billion for the refund.
Pfizer said the company had received about $100,000 worth of pills over the course of the investigation. The company will pay a total of $150,000, including a portion of the settlement, for its refund, the company said.
The company is also seeking compensation for a number of other damages that it suffered after it settled for $1.2 billion in a suit involving the counterfeit versions of Viagra.
The company said the suit involved the fake versions of Viagra, including the pills. The pills allegedly contained sildenafil, the active ingredient in the erectile dysfunction drug.
Pfizer is seeking a refund for the amount it paid the company to resolve the claim.
The investigation began in May 2009 after the company received information from a Chinese-nation agency that Pfizer had falsified Viagra pills and shipped them overseas.
A statement from the company said it had received information from the agency that it had found counterfeit versions of the drug in China, and had purchased the pills from overseas.Pfizer said the company had also received information that it was selling the fake pills to the Chinese market, and had received an order for the pills from the American manufacturer.

The NHS is to be ‘unrestricted’ to offer free and affordable medication for men and women with erectile dysfunction (ED).
The first oral erectile dysfunction medication to be launched in the UK over a six-month period, will be available from November 30 to December 1 this year, offering a choice of 25mg and 100mg tablets. The NHS will also offer free prescription of Viagra.
“This new treatment is designed to provide an alternative to Viagra for those with erectile dysfunction,” says Dr David Edwards, chief medical officer for the National Health Service (NHS). “The availability of this new treatment will allow men who are on Viagra to have the same level of sexual satisfaction as men who are on the other two, although the effects of Viagra on men and women may differ.”
Viagra is a drug that was first introduced in the NHS in 1998, and is known to have the same side-effects as Viagra.
“We are delighted to see the introduction of this new treatment in the NHS as it will have the same benefits as Viagra for men and women,” says Dr Edwards.
The drug is being supplied by GPs in both male and female patients, but the NHS will be able to offer the medication for free for men and women who cannot take it.
“This is an excellent opportunity for patients to have access to this new treatment,” says Dr Edwards. “The NHS has been a great partner for the NHS in providing this medication for men and women, and we are delighted to see it available to help these patients.”

“Medicare for men and women is now free, and the NHS has always been a great partner for the NHS,” says Dr Edwards.
This is part of the NHS trust which has been in effect since 1998.
The drugs were originally to help the elderly, but have since been removed from their formulary.
“The NHS is now allowing the NHS to offer free and affordable prescription for men and women with erectile dysfunction,” says Dr Edwards.
The drugs will be supplied for the treatment of erectile dysfunction in 50 per cent of men and in 100 per cent of men over the age of 75.
“This new treatment will offer men with erectile dysfunction a choice of 50mg and 100mg tablets, which will not be available to patients with erectile dysfunction,” says Dr Edwards.
The treatment will be offered at pharmacies throughout the UK and will be supplied free of charge for men and women.
In the past two years, the NHS has made a number of significant changes to the way it is operated. For example, the prescribing of prescribing information has changed, which means that there is now an NHS Prescribing Area in England that will be able to provide patients with a choice of prescriptions, which will include a pharmacy and an NHS Prescribing Centre, which will be able to supply them with their prescriptions and free of charge.
“The NHS now offers free and affordable prescriptions for men and women with erectile dysfunction,” says Dr Edwards.
The NHS will also be able to supply a range of drugs for the treatment of ED, including both erectile dysfunction and other treatments for the condition.
“These new drugs will only be available for a period of six months, and will not be covered by the NHS for those men who have erectile dysfunction,” says Dr Edwards.
“For women with erectile dysfunction, we are going to be able to offer them a choice of 50mg tablets, which is a reasonable price for them, but is not always the best choice for everyone,” says Dr Edwards.
The NHS should now be able to offer free and affordable prescriptions for all women with erectile dysfunction, including for men and women who cannot take it.“We have been making a number of changes to the way we treat women’s ED, including changes to the way we treat women’s ED. We are currently also making a number of changes to the way we treat women’s ED, including changes to the way we treat women’s ED,” says Dr Edwards.
